Since studying Textile Design at Nottingham Trent University, I've explored ways of creating my art and illustrations both on paper and on textile platforms.
I love capturing the character and expressions of the fauna that live all around us. An animal can symbolise so much and evoke a memory or an emotion that it's hard not to be fascinated by them. Being able to create a piece of work that can seemingly breathe life is rewarding in itself, but if I can share that vision with someone else then even better.
In a world that’s now fast-paced and technology-based, I feel that we sometimes need to remember to slow down and appreciate the world we once lived in. I use free-motion embroidery and hand screen-printing techniques to add an organic and tactile feel to my work.
I also offer to create commissioned pet portraits, on paper and stitched on fabric, which make beautifully timeless and personal gifts.
